Detailed ltinerary

DAY 1

Guwahati/Tezpur - Nameri National Park

You will be assisted at Guwahati/Tezpur airport and drive straight to Nameri National Park. Located on the banks of Jia Bhoroli River and on Assam-Arunachal border, it opened in Nov 1998 and is home to the Barking Deer, white winged duck, Sambhar, Hog Deer and Elephants. The place has over 350 species of birds. Evening enjoy a show of Bihu Dance, the traditional and well known Assamese dance. Overnight stay in your camp.

DAY 2

Nameri – Dirang

Early morning head out on trekking tour inside the National Park (2.5 hrs). Later return to your lodge for breakfast. After breakfast checkout and you will be transferred to the boat embankment point (8 km) by car. Come down by boat on the snow-fed Himalayan river. You will have an amazing experience while sailing over the Jia Bhorelli River. Halt on a small rocky island on the way. Later disembark from your boat and drive on the hill road towards Dirang. En-route stop at the orchidarium at Tipi. Later proceed towards the spectacular Dirang valley.

On arrival at Dirang, check in at your hotel. Dirang is famous for its apple orchards, sheep breeding farms and natural hot springs. Dirang is ideal place for adventures like trekking and hiking. Stay overnight at Dirang.

DAY 3

Dirang

After breakfast proceed to visit Dirang monastery. Later visit Sangti Valley which is one of the seasonal homes of the majestic creature called the black-necked crane that flies across from China and Leh, right into its laps. Enjoy a picnic lunch at one of the beautiful waterfalls/streams. Return to your hotel in the evening. Stay overnight at Dirang.

DAY 4

Sela Pass excursion

After breakfast proceed for an excursion to Sela Pass (82 kms/2 hrs). Situated at an altitude of 13746 ft., the pass will be covered with snow most of the year. It is an awesome sight to behold! Walk beside the frozen Sela Lake. Evening drive back to Dirang. Stay overnight at Dirang.

DAY 5

Dirang - Balipara (190 kms/6 hrs)

After breakfast checkout and drive down the mountain to Balipara near Tezpur, en-route visiting Tipi Orchid Park. Situated on the banks of the Bharali River, Tipi is known for the widest assortment of orchids. It is amazing to know that more than 500 species of orchids are found here. Later drive on towards Balipara. On arrival, check in at your Tea garden bungalow and stay overnight.

DAY 6

Balipara – Tezpur - Kaziranga National Park

Morning drive to Kaziranga National Park (2.5 hrs). En-route halt at Tezpur, situated on the north bank of the Brahmaputra, Tezpur is a scenic and multifaceted city steeped in mythology and history. The city abounds in archaeological sites, lakes, hills and gardens.

Later proceed to Kaziranga National Park. A UNESCO world heritage site, Kaziranga is one of the last areas in eastern India undisturbed by a human presence. Reputed to be a mini Africa in the Indian sub-continent, the Park has more than 70% of the world's one-horned rhino population, 70% of the world population of the Eastern Swamp Deer and 75% of the world's wild Asiatic water buffalo. It has a significant population of the Asian Elephants. Moreover, the Park has more than 483 species of birds, 18 of them are globally threatened species. On arrival at Kaziranga, check in at your wildlife resort. Remaining time is at leisure till next morning.

DAY 7

Kaziranga (Elephant and Jeep safaris)

Morning proceed for an elephant ride in the dense forest of Kaziranga. Elephant safari is the most enjoyed safari to explore the wide varieties of wildlife in the Kaziranga National Park. The vast area covered by the Elephant Grass can be best viewed when you are on an elephant's back. Here you get the opportunity to see the One-horned Rhinoceros, Elephants and many other wild animals from a very close distance. Return back to your resort for breakfast. Post breakfast, proceed on a jeep safari to Eastern range. The Eastern Range is good for water birds viz. White-eyed Pochard, Falcated Teal and Spot-billed pelican.  

After lunch, proceed for a safari into Central range. The nearby Panbari Reserved Forest is good for primates such as Hoollock Gibbon and Capped Langur and also woodland birds such as Yellow-vented Warbler, Dark-Necked Tailorbird, Grey-bellied, Great Hornbill and Slaty-bellied Tesias. Evening return back to your resort and enjoy campfire, followed by dinner at your hotel.

DAY 8

Departure

Morning after breakfast checkout and you will be transferred to Guwahati airport for your onward flight. Tour ends.
