Tour Summary

With its mighty fortresses, imperial monuments, opulent palaces, and exquisitely carved temples defining almost every horizon, Rajasthan with Ajanta and Ellora Caves tour is a journey through the ages that evokes enduring images of north India's vibrant and colorful history. This tour takes you through one of India's most beautiful areas, showcasing not only the treasure trove of architectural gems that Rajasthan is known for but also the magnificent ancient murals of the Ajanta Caves. The Ajanta cave paintings, a potent emblem of India's rich artistic history, were lost for nearly 1000 years before being rediscovered by Captain John Smith in 1819 while leading a tiger hunting expedition.

On this well-paced tour, you'll learn about Raj's legacy and marvel at some of the Mughals' finest works, including the majestic Humayun's Tomb in Delhi, the splendid Taj Mahal, the magnificent Red Fort in Agra with its wonderful palaces, and elaborate audience halls, and Akbar's Fatehpur Sikri, one of the best-preserved Mughal cities in northern India. Then head to Rajasthan, where you'll ascend to the top of the stunning yellow-hued fort-palace at Amer in Jaipur, visit grand palaces displaying Indo-Islamic architecture, and take a relaxing sunset cruise on Lake Pichola in Udaipur.

You'll also stop by beautiful Hindu and Jain temples, vibrant markets, and miniature painting studios along the way. Then, take the newly launched flight from Udaipur to Aurangabad, the gateway to the famous, ancient cave temples of Ajanta and Ellora. You will have ample time to admire the ornate frescoes, which are considered the finest surviving examples of Indian art, and gaze at the spellbinding Kailasa Temple, which is carved from a single rock and occupies nearly twice the area of the Parthenon in Athens. Indian Marvels with Ajanta and Ellora Caves tour ends in Mumbai, the commercial Capital of India.
