Tour Summary

The backwaters, palm-lined beaches, and hill stations of Kerala are well-known. However, there are many areas in Kerala that are underrated by tourists and locals. Here are a few of Kerala's many secret gems just waiting to be found. You will visit hidden gem like Champakulam which is a small village in Kerala in Alappuzha district, Kerala's rice bowl and is surrounded by lush paddy fields, coconut groves, and waterfowl. Champakulam is a popular tourist destination and home to the Moolam boat race.

You will also visit Tiruvalla - a small town having no importance on the tourism map other than the overnight Kalari performance which takes place in the courtyard of its ages old ‘Sree Vallabha’ temple. This is an experience that should not be missed.

Detailed ltinerary

DAY 8

Alleppey (Houseboat) (32 km. – 50 minutes drive)

Enjoy the sumptuous breakfast at your resort. Later you will be transferred to Alleppey Jetty point. Embark in your beautifully decorated houseboat (Kettuvallam) to begin your journey through enchanting backwaters. The houseboat cruise in the backwaters is among the most exciting tourism products of Kerala. Since Kerala has large stretches of backwaters with plenty of natural sceneries (but only a few interesting monuments for sightseeing), sailing through the houseboat makes it a wonderful experience. Enjoy the day sailing through the narrow emerald backwater canals of Alleppey.

DAY 7

Champakulam – Tiruvalla (42 km. – 1 hr. drive)

Morning kept at your complete discretion to relax and enjoy the backwaters landscape, country life, and daily living of the locals. In the late afternoon, you will be transferred to Tiruvalla - a small town having no importance on the tourism map other than the overnight Kalari performance which takes place in the courtyard of its ages old ‘Sree Vallabha’ temple. If somebody is interested in seeing traditional classical dance art ‘Kalari’ or ‘Kathakali’, there could be no better place than Tiruvalla for the same. It’s also a great place to see the complete make-up process of Kathakali artists. It’s a live workshop of ‘Kathakali’ and that too quite an exclusive one. Evening you will be transferred to Sree Vallava temple to see the dance performances and rituals.
