On this wonderful 10-day trip, explore the vast mountain ranges and ancient holy places of Ladakh. Ladakh is a magical place of breathtakingly beautiful and exotic landscapes, ancient Tibetan Buddhist monasteries – sometimes perched on rocky outcrops, old mani walls covered in prayer-inscribed stones, colorful prayer flags dancing in the wind, whitewashed stupas, traditional villages with mud-brick houses and green pastures, and some of the most fun-loving and welcoming people you'll ever meet. Excursions to Alchi and Lamayuru, two of the region's oldest monasteries, as well as many other beautiful spiritual sites, are included in the tour. So let’s join us on this tour.
You will be welcomed at Bakula Rimpoche (Leh) airport and transferred to your hotel to check in. Remaining day is at leisure till next morning for acclimatization to the high altitude of Leh. Stay overnight at your hotel.
Morning proceed to visit Shanti Stupa a Buddhist heritage of Leh which displays the important episodes from the life of Buddha on its golden panels. This Peace Pagoda was built by the Japanese Buddhists and inaugurated by His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Later, you will be driven to Sankar Monastery where you can see fine paintings and gold statuettes of Buddha. Stay overnight at your hotel.
Morning proceed to visit the beautiful Shey, Thiksey and Hemis Monasteries. Perched on a mountain, you would get nice view of Indus River from the Thiksey monastery. Hemis Gompa is famous as the biggest and richest monasteries in Leh. Later you will visit the Shey Palace which was the summer palace of the royal family of Ladakh. Stay overnight in your hotel at Leh.
Morning after breakfast proceed for the sightseeing tour of Alchi monastery. En-route we stop at a camp in Uletokpo village to have lunch and relax for a while before proceeding on to Alchi monastery, one of the well-preserved Buddhist centers in Leh. The monastery has fine paintings on its walls. Stay overnight at the camp.
Morning proceed for the excursion to Lamayuru monastery, one of the oldest monasteries in Ladakh. Enjoy the scenic landscape of the Lamayuru village. Return to the camp by evening & stay overnight.
Early morning, we would go on a sightseeing tour of Ridzong and Likir monasteries. Being located atop a steep hill, you would walk for a kilometer on foot to reach Ridzong monastery, a convent for Buddhist nuns. Later, return to the camp for breakfast and leave for Leh. On the way, visit Likir monastery built by Gelupa sect in 15th century. Continue driving along the Indus River. Lunch at the hotel and afternoon is free for leisure. Stay overnight at your hotel.
After breakfast, you will visit Saboo village to experience the traditional life of Ladakhi people. You may enjoy delicious local cuisine at Ladakhi home. Afterwards, drive back to Leh and stay overnight.
This day you will visit the majestic Stok Palace and museum. It used to be the residence of the royal family. The museum has an excellent collection of antiques from the royal times. Later visit a Ladakh Handicraft Centre where you can buy local handicrafts and other stuff. You may also visit a Tibetan settlement at Choglamsar. Stay overnight at your hotel.
Morning at appropriate time you will be transferred to Leh airport to board a direct flight to Delhi. The tour ends here.
