Tour Summary

The Nanda Devi Sanctuary Trek is a very popular trekking route in the Garhwal Himalayan region that takes you to the sacred Goddess Nanda Devi's abode. Idolizing India's highest peak Nanda Devi, rises and shines at an altitude of 7,816 meters. The trek's main attraction is a hulking high pyramid peak emerging from a vast ring of high mountains with the sacred Garhwal in the background. High mountaineering routes and trekking opportunities abound in the region. The Nanda Devi trek takes you through the opulent Nanda Devi Sanctuary, a seventy-mile-long amphitheater that extends to 6,000 meters above sea level and is situated adjacent to the Rishi Ganga valley.

The Nanda Devi trekking tour brings the trekkers to the completely inaccessible basin known as the ‘Nanda Devi Sanctuary.' The Rishi Ganga River starts here and flows down to Nanda Devi, forming a deep valley. The supreme peak of Nanda Devi East, which rises and shines at an elevation of 7,434 meters, encircles the Sanctuary from the east. It is linked to the main summit by a spiky, 3-kilometer edge that runs almost entirely above 7,000 meters, providing ideal Nanda Devi trekking routes.

The Nanda Devi trek begins in Lata, a small village located about 2 hours north of Joshimath. The trek starts from Lata village and heads to Lata Kharak, which is at an elevation of 3,689 meters, before turning towards Dharansi Pass, which is at an elevation of 4,250 meters. The rewarding view of the snow-capped peaks of Dronagiri, Nanda Gunthi, and others can be captured from this vantage point. From Lata Kharak to Dharansi Pass, the Nanda Devi trek follows a steep climb that passes via Jhandi Dhar and Bagfyana Pass. Following that, from Dharansi Pass, the journey descends steeply to Debrugheta before returning to Dharansi Pass. The downhill trek continues at 2,900 meters to Hitoli and then to Joshimath.
